SmartSens Announces 50MP, 1.0-Micron Pixel CMOS Image Sensor for Smartphone Cameras

Shanghai, China, August 28, 2025 SmartSens Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SSE STAR MARKET: 688213), a technologically advanced CMOS image sensor supplier, announced SC562HS, a 50-MegaPixel (MP), 1.0-Micron Pixel CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) for smartphone cameras. Based on SmartSens' SmartClarity®-XL technology, SC562HS is manufactured in 55nm Stacked BSI process and equipped with multiple advanced technologies including PixGain HDR®, SFCPixel® and AllPix ADAF®. As a domestic high-performance Stacked BSI CMOS image sensor, SC562HS delivers excellent imaging performance while balancing cost, and brings upgraded, outstanding imaging effects to the main camera of smartphones.


Main features

High dynamic range(HDR)

SC562HS is equipped with SmartSens' PixGain HDR®, featuring a maximum dynamic range of 88 dB. Therefore, SC562HS can retain more image highlight and shadow details, delivering video outputs with rich light and shadow layers and no motion artifacts.

Furthermore, PixGain HDR® technology supports on-chip dual-frame combination, which not only reduces the computing power requirements of smartphones for high dynamic range(HDR)video shooting, but also helps lower power consumption and alleviates heat generation during shooting.In addition, SC562HS also supports multiple HDR modes such as Staggered HDR and NDOL HDR, which can flexibly meet the needs of different phone models.

High sensitivity

SC562HS is built on SmartSens' SmartClarity®-XL process, featuring a large pixel size of 1 μm and a high sensitivity of 4033 mV/lux*s. Therefore, even in low light environments such as cloudy days and nighttime, SC562HS can help phone cameras capture bright, clear, and high-quality images.

Low noise

Leveraging advanced SFCPixel® technology, SC562HS has achieved excellent noise suppression capability. Its Read Noise is < 1e-, which is approximately 56.7% lower than that of competitors with the same specifications. This enables clearer details in night imaging.

Fast autofocus

SC562HS is equipped with SmartSens’AllPix ADAF® and Sparse PDAF technologies, which enable two fast autofocus modes. In low-light environments, SC562HS can utilize AllPix ADAF® mode, which achieves accurate and fast focusing through its all-pixel all-directional autofocus, meeting the needs of high-speed image capture. Furthermore, SC562HS supports all-pixel all-directional autofocus during 4K 30fps PixGain HDR® video recording, ensuring fast focus tracking performance for HDR videos. Under normal lighting conditions, SC562HS can switch to Sparse PDAF mode, which enables fast autofocus while reducing power consumption through 6%-pixel phase detection.
